IOP Best Student Paper Award Criteria

The Best Student Paper Award, sponsored by the IOP Journal of Smart Materials and Structures, consist of a Certificate and $250 dollars. A Committee of three members will review the submissions based on the following criteria:

  1. The first author of the paper should be a student.
  2. Since the Cansmart Workshop has a special format of presentations: oral or poster, either format of presentation will be considered for the Award.
(The oral presentation consists of a 20 minute presentation; while the poster presentation consists of 5 minutes of oral presentation and a displayed poster during the 2 days of the meeting. All the papers (oral and poster) have the same length and format and are included in the same fashion in the Proceedings).
  3. The Committee will evaluate the general quality of the paper including a clear and concise description of the work, the clarity of the language, the organisation and completeness of the paper.

The awards will be judged by three members of the Organising Committee, who will review papers which are eligible and registered for the competition. The winners will be announced during the workshop.

We ask the supervisor(s) of authors who wish to have their eligible contributions considered to respond by e-mail. Please cut and paste the following confirmation text into your e-mail and send it to me at akhras@rmc.ca.

The primary author on our Cansmart/SMN 2015 contribution, entitled ______________ (insert title here), is ___________________ (insert full name here as it should appear on the certificate). I confirm that this author was a student at the time the work was carried out. The work will be presented at the workshop by one of the authors, and we would like to have this contribution considered for the Best Student Paper awards.
